With Independence Day right around the corner here in the United States, I wanted to use my 6×6 Paper Pad Tutorial with the Yankee Doodle collection from Doodlebug Designs. Red, White, and Blue are always a perfect color combination, in my opinion. I really loved the silver foil accents that were included on several of the pattern papers. While most 6×6’s from Doodlebug include 2 of each design, this particular paper pad had 4 of each design. But even with less variety of pattern papers, I enjoyed this paper collection. Doodlebug always has bright colors and charming designs.

I made a total of 36 cards using one 6×6 paper pad.

I recorded my entire process of disappearing the 6×6 paper pad. The video is sped up 8 times since the full recording time was around 5 1/2 hours, not including any of my planning, prep, or die cut time. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it on YouTube.

In addition to using the 6×6 paper pad, I also used 23 sheets of  8 1/2″ x 11″ solid colored cardstock. Here are all the leftover scraps.

Here are the pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. All of my cards are A2 size. Go HERE to see my video explaining how I determine card sketch measurements. All cards are made using Doodlebug Design’s Yankee Doodle 6×6 paper pad.

  • Just love your cards and the way you just match all colors and designs from the 6×6 card stock pack, where can I purchase the doodle bug collection I particularly like the yankee doodle collection. good job

  • This is amazing!! Love the cards; love the paper pack used for these…that last one is my fave!! Thanks for sharing! I'll be back to study these a bit more and see what I can do with them!!

  • Thank you! I just loved the colors and designs in this 6×6, I couldn't resist buying it. I bought the paper pad online from A Cherry on Top. I don't have very many local craft stores near me that carry the Doodlebug products.

  • Thank you, Barbara! Doodlebug papers are always fun to use. Definitely my favorite brand of 6×6's.

  • Kristie, your cards are fantastic! I truly enjoyed looking at each one; took me back to our OWH days and also got me in the mood for Fourth of July! I love the dp and the sketches you used. You're so talented!

  • Thank you, Sherry! I love patriotic colors and I think they work all year. Yet I tend to forget about using them now that OWH is closed.

  • Love these cards, Kristie. I LOVE Doodlebug papers, but overlooked this one thinking it was too geared toward patriotic and 4th of July. You made me look past that and realize that you could use then for anything. I think I have to invest in this Yankee Doodle paper pad now 🙂 Thanks for sharing your talent.

  • Kristie, I am always amazed at your videos. These are beautiful cards! How do you decide which sketches to use so that you aren't always repeating sketches? There are so many to choose from, I kinda of find it mind-boggling! ? keep the videos coming. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thank you, Teresa! I can never resist Doodlebug papers, especially fun patriotic colors. And yes, patriotic colors are perfect for any occasion. I learned that from all my years of making cards for Operation Write Home. 🙂

  • Thank you for your kind words, Rebecca. I really appreciate it! There are so many sketch sites out there, I could go years without repeating any sketches. Mojo Monday alone has 500 sketches. Although I actually do repeat sketches quite often. I try to add new ones to each of my videos though. When I'm getting ready to start a new 6×6, I grab a stack of sketches I haven't shown before and try to use some of those first. But as the papers start to turn into scraps, I do tend to go back some of my favorite sketches. Like OWH sketch #154. It's a great sketch to finish off the paper pad. 🙂

  • Awesome job with another Doodlebug 6×6! Although they all turned out really well, I think my favorites are the ones with the Hedgehog, and the OWH #154 with the cute truck design. I get such great ideas from watching your videos. Thank you for posting another great one!

  • Thank you, Jennifer! The hedgehog, OWH #154, and the quilt cards seem to be the most popular. I really enjoyed making cards with this patriotic Doodlebug paper.

  • I just accidently came across your YouTube channel with these doodle bug cards! !! This is my favorite company and I'm sooooo excited you have the measurements for all your sketches! !! This saves me so much time replicating some of your cards,. THANK YOU! I love your card ideas for all the holidays!

  • Thank you, Linda! I love using Doodlebug paper collections. I'm always excited when they have a new release. I'm glad the sketch measurements are helpful for you. I'm always happy to share those with crafty friends. I hope you have a lovely day! 🙂
