Hello friends! Every month, I bring cards to the residents at a local retirement home. For holiday months, I bring enough cards for all of the residents. For non-holiday months, I bring about 45 cards. In some of my videos, I have mentioned that I donate cards. Recently, I’ve received several messages about how I prepare the cards.
For all of the cards going to the retirement homes, I include a handwritten message on the inside. The cards are Happy Mail for the residents. Currently, the home does not have a need for blank cards for the residents to use.
With Valentine’s Day coming up, I decided to show a little more detail on how I prep cards for the retirement home.
Instead of cutting into a new paper pad, I used PhotoPlay’s Cupid Sweetheart Cafe collection. I has some leftover after using it for my Jaded Blossom February release cards. The collection includes 12×12 sheets, so it was easy to cut down for the background panels.
I cut out enough pieces to make 45 cards. The retirement home currently has around 90 residents, but I have a local friend that made the other 45 cards. Sometimes I enjoy making cards in mass production. Once everything is cut, stamped and die cut, assembly goes quickly.
Valentine cards can be a bit tricky when they are being given to strangers. I like to use cute images and decided the adorable Honey Bee Stamps hedgehog was perfect. Hopefully it will bring smiles to the residents.
All of the cards are basically the same. Different background paper and slightly different colors for the heart die cuts. For embellishments, I dug through my stash looking for colors that matched the patterned paper.
After stamping a sentiment on the inside of the cards, I will add a handwritten message. I know it would save time to print out the message, but I think a hand written message has more meaning. It usually takes me several days to fill out the cards. (My hand gets tired. Lol!)

Absolutely adorable cards–they are sure to make the residents smile. I know what you mean about V-day cards to strangers and I think you found the right way to do it! How long did it take to get them all ready? I bet the writing took the longest, but that is what makes these so special. Thank you for sharing your process.
