As much as I’ve been enjoying all the lovely pink and floral paper collections, I decided it was time to use a masculine 6×6 paper pad. It was challenging finding one that wasn’t kiddish and would still work well for the cards I need. I found the Hey Mister collection from My Mind’s Eye and knew it would be perfect.

I make cards for a local retirement home and include uplifting messages inside each one. I drop off around 30 cards every month and more for specific holidays so that every resident will receive a card. For Father’s Day, the retirement home will need 40 cards. I used my 6×6 Paper Pad Tutorial and one paper pad to make 40 Father’s Day cards.

Because it takes many hours to use up a 6×6 paper pad, this video has been sped up 7 times. The real time recording was just over 5 hours, not including any of my planning, prep, or die cutting time. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it on YouTube.

In addition to using the 6×6 paper pad, I also used 13 sheets of  8 1/2″ x 11″ and 16 sheets of  12″ x 12″ solid colored cardstock.

I’ve received several requests to list the cardstock colors. I use a variety of different brands and usually don’t know the name of the color. But I will list the colors I do have the info.

Charcoal cardstock – Coredinations

Raspberry Cordial cardstock – Coredinations

Black cardstock – Recollections

All other cardstock – unknown

Here are close up pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. All of my cards are A2 size. Go HERE to see my video explaining how I determine card sketch measurements. All cards are made using My Mind’s Eye Hey Mister 6×6 paper pad.

  • These look great. I have been asked to help a young lady who is inspiration challenged to make general male cards and needs much guidance with making any cards so thank you for some much needed inspiration for myself to help her. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  • What a wonderful set of cards to give to some deserving gentlemen. I like the coppery accents and the graphic designs. The cards look terrific. Thanks for sharing the cardstock names/brands. It will be helpful when shopping for future projects. I really like the deep gray color in the Charcoal cardstock. You are very inspiring and I so appreciate the time you take to create and share the cards and videos.

  • I actually have looked at this paper pad several times and didn’t like the foil accents for some reason. You have done a delightful job of making cards from it, however, and I may have to consider getting it for my masculine cards. I have so many men for whom I make cards. Was wondering what the embossing folder that looked like little dots or bubbles might be. Don’t think I have seen that one before. You continue to amaze me with your talents, Kristie! Thank you for sharing!!

  • I like watching your videos sometimes I think what is she thinking but right after I watch the video I go to your blog to see up close pictures. In your video you can't see The Little prints sometimes and on your blog i go awww that's better and they all look wonderful.. looking forward to more videos kristie thanks!

  • Kristie, I saved watching this video until today when I could be away at our cabin in the mountains. This father's day is a mixed bag for me – first, my father-in-law died just before Christmas and my husband has been heartbroken at his passing (as have I); second, my father suddenly seems to have aged after decades of him looking like he's 50 – the reality of his mortality is weighing on my heart; third, we are in the process of adopting and my husband won't yet be a father for this father's day. Lots of emotions on my side. However, as usual, you manage to make me think outside myself and see the beauty of your creative process. Thank you for giving me hope – that our hearts will heal, that I'll have my father for more time and that my husband will get to be a father before next year rolls around. You are an angel to many, me included. I look forward to your next powerful video!

  • Thank you, Sadie! I'm glad I can provide some inspiration for you. How sweet of you to help another make cards. I'm sure she really appreciates your time and kindness. 🙂

  • Thank you, Jeanne! I love when there are fun foil accents included in the paper collections. I hope more paper companies start using them. I will do my best to provide cardstock names and sources. Even though I used a little bit of black cardstock, I really liked the charcoal color for most of the cards. I hope you have a beautiful day!

  • Thank you! It was the foil accents that I liked most about the paper collection. Plus I knew it would be perfect for Father's Day cards. I had the hardest time finding coordinating cardstock though. But I'm really happy with how the cards turned out.
The embossing folder is called Snowfall and it's made by Sheena Douglass. I bought it several years ago at a Creating Keepsakes Convention so I'm not sure if it's even available anymore.

  • Thank you, Melissa! It's hard to do a closeup view of my craft area while I'm recording a 6×6 video. That's why I make sure to share close up card pictures on my blog. Have a wonderful day! 🙂

  • I know holidays can be a tough for so many. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It's completely understandable why Father's Day is hard for you and your husband. Watching our parents age is very tough. My own mother's health has declined rapidly over the past couple years. I just try to enjoy the time I have with her and not worry about the declining years.
How exciting that you and your husband are planning on adopting. I can imagine the mixed emotions you are both feeling. I pray you both have reasons to celebrate this next chapter in your lives. Hugs to you! 🙂

  • Kristie – I absolutely love these cards. The foil accents are great, and you have complemented them with all the other elements — layouts, brads, layering–you truly have an eye for design. I especially love the shimmery copper paper you used judicially on a few cards. And those bulldogs really made me smile! Great job (as always). This paper pad is going on my wish list for sure! Thank you!

  • Thank you! It was so fun using a masculine paper collection this time. I just loved the copper foil accents. 🙂

  • What gorgeous cards! I recently bought some of the Hey Mister paper and accents, but have had a hard time putting cards together. Thanks so much for the inspiration and the great, detailed instructions! Loved the video, too.

  • Thank you! It's always hard to find a nice masculine paper collection. I really enjoyed using this one. I'm glad I could provide some inspiration for you. 🙂

  • I love watching your videos when I need inspiration! Having 3 boys and 4 grandsons I need great ideas for masculine cards and this was perfect!
