There have been very few Doodlebug Design paper collections that I haven’t purchased. I will admit, I had second thoughts about the new So Punny collection. But only because I don’t need a bunch of valentine cards. Since I give cards to local retirement homes, I decided the residents would probably appreciate some funny and cheerful Valentine cards.
Since I really wanted to make the most of the Punny sentiments and images, I purchased the Mini Icon stickers and the Chit Chat die cut pieces. The paper collection also includes 24 small image/sentiment cut aparts. By including all the extras, I didn’t use any stamp sets at all. That may be a first for me.
I used my 6×6 Paper Pad Tutorial and one paper pad to make 41 cards.
In addition to using the 6×6 paper pad, I also used 26 sheets of 8 1/2″ x 11″ and 4 sheets of 12″ x 12″ solid colored cardstock.
Here are the pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. All of my cards are A2 size. Penny did a fantastic job on the voice over. She sure sounds like a sweetheart. You just might have to film her making a card or two. 🙂 This set looks great. I have to admit not being a huge, huge fan of punny sets, but with Doodlebug the adorable factor kicks in and makes it more fun. I think you did a terrific job on these cards. Thanks, Jeanne! Penny still has that youthful voice and I'm so glad to have preserved it. Before I know it, she'll be a teenager. I'm sure there will a video or two featuring Penny. 🙂 I was really unsure about this collection at first. But I'm glad I bought it, plus the extras. The cards are perfect for Valentines for the retirement residents. This cold bug is a slow dragging one, but I am feeling much better. 🙂

I also give cards to local nursing homes and include an uplifting handwritten message inside. I've put together baskets of cards for different fundraisers. There is always a need for handmade cards. 🙂

Hello. I donate about 30 cards every month to local retirement homes. (I live in a populated area, so there are several nearby.) I include a handwritten message of encouragement inside each card. I would suggest looking around your neighborhood to see who may have a need for cards. If you are going to a nursing/retirement home, ask the activity coordinator if they would enjoy your cards. You could also check local hospitals to see if they need handmade cards. 🙂
Hello. I have always been a crafty person, so my kids were always aware of that. My daughter showed interest when she was only about 18 months old. She would dig through the recycle bin in my craft room and put scrap papers together. When she was about 2 1/2, I gave her a pair of kid scissors. She's been crafting with me ever since. She also comes with me to my month craft group once in awhile. My friends adore her and are always providing encouragement. I don't think there is a specific age to start kids out. It will depend on each child. But start them out with simple tools. Paper, glue sticks, kid scissors, crayons, stickers. Then let them do their thing. Most young children enjoy creating. 🙂
