There have been very few Doodlebug Design paper collections that I haven’t purchased. I will admit, I had second thoughts about the new So Punny collection. But only because I don’t need a bunch of valentine cards. Since I give cards to local retirement homes, I decided the residents would probably appreciate some funny and cheerful Valentine cards.

Since I really wanted to make the most of the Punny sentiments and images, I purchased the Mini Icon stickers and the Chit Chat die cut pieces. The paper collection also includes 24 small image/sentiment cut aparts. By including all the extras, I didn’t use any stamp sets at all. That may be a first for me.

I used my 6×6 Paper Pad Tutorial and one paper pad to make 41 cards.

In addition to using the 6×6 paper pad, I also used 26 sheets of  8 1/2″ x 11″ and 4 sheets of  12″ x 12″ solid colored cardstock.

Here are the pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. All of my cards are A2 size. Go HERE to see my video explaining how I determine card sketch measurements. All cards are made using Doodlebug Design’s So Punny 6×6 paper pad.

  • Another great video! Penny sounds awesome, definitely made me smile listening to her voice over. She did a wonderful job ☺. Sketch Saturday #413 was my favorite this time. Thank you for continuing to film your work.

  • Penny did a fantastic job on the voice over. She sure sounds like a sweetheart. You just might have to film her making a card or two. 🙂 This set looks great. I have to admit not being a huge, huge fan of punny sets, but with Doodlebug the adorable factor kicks in and makes it more fun. I think you did a terrific job on these cards. I liked seeing the different sketches, too. And 41 cards is majorly impressive. Hope you feel much better soon! Thanks for pushing through when you weren't feeling your best. 🙂

  • You are so incredibly talented, Kristie. I'm not sure why, but your videos always help me relax. You help me get into a crafty mood. Your kindness just makes everything good seem possible. I am grateful for the many people you touch with your work and I am also grateful to be among them!

  • Great job as always, Kristie! Those cards are so cute and I'm sure all who receive them are going to love them. I loved hearing Penny's voice and she did a fantastic job on her voiceover work. I hope to get to hear her in her own video soon!

  • Just wanted to stop by and tell you how much I enjoy your videos! I have watched all of them,(multiple times) The process, the way you utlize as much paper as you can, and the fact that you donate so many. (I used to work in administration at a nursing home?) Thanks so much!!

  • I loved hearing Penny do your voiceover. She did a fantastic job and I loved her sense of humor (especially about speeding up the video.) All of those cards are very cute and sure to brighten someone's day! Hope you are feeling better soon!

  • Thank you! My girl had so much fun helping out her mama. I'm sure she would do more if I asked her. Sketch Saturday 413 was one of my favorites as well. 🙂

  • Thanks, Jeanne! Penny still has that youthful voice and I'm so glad to have preserved it. Before I know it, she'll be a teenager. I'm sure there will a video or two featuring Penny. 🙂 I was really unsure about this collection at first. But I'm glad I bought it, plus the extras. The cards are perfect for Valentines for the retirement residents. This cold bug is a slow dragging one, but I am feeling much better. 🙂

  • Thanks, Kristi! It was a fun paper collection. My girl was so excited to have the opportunity to help me out. And she is already requesting to do her own video. 🙂

  • Thank you for your kind words and continued support, Jodi! I really appreciate it. Donating my cards just feels right to me. I get joy from crafting. So why not share that joy with others. Have a wonderful day! 🙂

  • Thank you, Jennifer. It took Penny a few practice takes before her personality really came out. She had so much fun and is asking to make her own video. 🙂

  • Thanks so much for your terrific ideas (plus all the measurements!!!) I see you donate your cards…I have also been donating a bunch of mine…just wondering which charities are your favorite? (if you care to share)…Thanks again for all your inspiration!

  • Kristie, you and your daughter are rock stars in the cardmaking world. Congratulations! And, many, many thanks for sharing your brilliance and talent to inspire us. Loved the way you used the collection stickers and diecuts. Feel better soon. Cheers!

  • You are very welcome, Kate! I'm always happy to share with fellow card-makers. I donate my cards to a few small local organizations/charities. I also give cards to local nursing homes and include an uplifting handwritten message inside. I've put together baskets of cards for different fundraisers. There is always a need for handmade cards. 🙂

  • Aw, thank you for your kind words. Penny and I really enjoy crafting together. I'm always happy to share with fellow crafters. Have a great day! 🙂

  • I noticed in one of your you tube videos, that you mentioned giving some of your cards to old folks home? What a great idea. I love making cards and have some many of them that I don't know what to do with them all. Any suggestions? Thanks

  • What suggestions do you have for getting young children involved in this craft? How did you start your daughter in this craft? What age do you suggest?

  • Hello. I donate about 30 cards every month to local retirement homes. (I live in a populated area, so there are several nearby.) I include a handwritten message of encouragement inside each card. I would suggest looking around your neighborhood to see who may have a need for cards. If you are going to a nursing/retirement home, ask the activity coordinator if they would enjoy your cards. You could also check local hospitals to see if they need handmade cards. 🙂

  • Hello. I have always been a crafty person, so my kids were always aware of that. My daughter showed interest when she was only about 18 months old. She would dig through the recycle bin in my craft room and put scrap papers together. When she was about 2 1/2, I gave her a pair of kid scissors. She's been crafting with me ever since. She also comes with me to my month craft group once in awhile. My friends adore her and are always providing encouragement. I don't think there is a specific age to start kids out. It will depend on each child. But start them out with simple tools. Paper, glue sticks, kid scissors, crayons, stickers. Then let them do their thing. Most young children enjoy creating. 🙂

  • Here it is just over a year since you made the video. I just bought this 6×6….sooooo cute. Starting on it tonight…

  • Hi. Can you please tell me what size you guillotine paper cutter is. And also where you got it from. Thank you.
    Love your Cards.

  • Hello! I have the 6" x 12" Tonic guillotine trimmer. The version I have was discontinued a couple years ago. But Tim Holtz now sells a very similar one in gray and black. Here's the link to the trimmer at Scrapbook.com.
