I have been super busy making cards out of 6×6 paper pads lately. Unfortunately, I haven’t even made a dent in my 6×6 collection. It would probably help if I quit buying new ones. But it’s just impossible for me to resist the darling Doodlebug Design collections. I recently finished the Fairy Tales 6×6 paper pad. (You can see the cards I made HERE.)

Naturally, I had to use the Dragon Tails collection next. It is just as darling and full of dragons, castles and knights. When my son was little, his room was decorated with all kinds of cute dragons and a castle playhouse. The paper collection reminds me of his former room. (He’s a teenager now, so cute little dragons are no longer cool.)

Since the Fairy Tales and Dragon Tails collections are kinda similar, unicorns verses dragons, I thought it would be fun to use the same sketches. This was a fun challenge for me. Even using the same sketches, I ended up with very different looking cards. I also made 4 more cards with the Dragon Tails collection.

A total of 38 cards were made using one 6×6 paper pad and my 6×6 Paper Pad Tutorial.

I recorded my entire process of disappearing the 6×6 paper pad. The video is sped up 8 times since the full recording time was around 6 hours, not including any of my planning, prep, or die cut time. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it on YouTube.

In addition to using the 6×6 paper pad, I also used 7 sheets of  8 1/2″ x 11″ and 17 sheets of  12″ x 12″ solid colored cardstock. Here are all the leftover scraps.

Here are the pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. All of my cards are A2 size. Go HERE to see my video explaining how I determine card sketch measurements. All cards are made using Doodlebug Design’s Dragon Tails 6×6 paper pad.

  • Wow! These look fantastic. After making just one design yesterday (and only two of the one design) I can safely say a huge amount of effort goes into making this many cards. I really appreciate even more your sharing! I'm sure it flows more smoothly over time, but still a tremendous effort goes into these fantastic cards. 🙂 Thanks so much for sharing!

  • These are amazing, Kristie! I love all the dragons and the way you put them together with the paper is too cute!

  • Thank you, Jeanne! I've been making cards this way for many years, so I definitely have a rhythm for it now. It's still a lot of work putting everything together for the blog and video, but I enjoy it. Thanks for your support, I really appreciate it!

  • I have this paper pack on order, due to be delivered tomorrow, and I have that dragon stamp set from MFT! Thank you so much for the video and inspiration! I liked your challenge to use the same sketches as the Princess Tales, too. My favorite cards are all the ones with the dragons, but I am impressed that some of the cards from this group are appropriate for anyone, any age.

  • Thank you, Jennifer! You are going to love this collection. And the MFT dragons are so cute! It's been so fun coloring unicorns and dragons lately. Happy crafting to you!

  • I love your videos, very simple and easy. I can't seem to get it right. Not good with colors seems like. I usually have to stare at the papers and then decide.
