I have super exciting news to share today! I am featured in the July issue of Woman’s Day magazine for my work with Operation Write Home. It’s something that has been in the works since March when I started talking with the author of the article. She was doing a feature about women who craft for charity and wanted a volunteer from Operation Write Home. I was so honored to have been selected.

Over the next few months she conducted the interview by phone and by email. I gave her so much information about my families’ military history, my card-making background, when I started contributing to OWH and all about the AnyHero card-signing events I have held at my church. Of course, typical media, all of my story was narrowed down into one little column.

Although, I was completely surprised when I was informed the magazine was sending a photographer to my house along with a hair/makeup stylist. I couldn’t believe they were going to do a photo shoot in my craft room. So cool!

The day of the photo shoot was just crazy. First, the stylist arrived to do my makeover. During that time, the photographer and his assistant showed up to start setting up in my craft room. Of course, they totally rearranged things in there. Lol! Since the article was going to be in the July issue, they really wanted a patriotic feel to it. So they were looking for anything red, white, and blue in my room. It was a good thing I already had some patriotic AnyHero cards completed.

It was an exciting experience for me. Once in a lifetime, for sure. And I was just thrilled when I saw the magazine in my local grocery store last Friday since then I could finally share it with everyone.
