Hello friends! I am guest designing for Scrapping for Less using the June Flavor of the Month Card Kit. The theme is Under the Sea Babies. There are 4 different mini collections. Each contains 6 papers, a stamp set, and a variety of embellishments and stickers. I love how well everything coordinates together. The stamps can easily be used with any of the mini collections.

I post a lot of 6×6 Paper Pad Tutorials and many people feel quite overwhelmed with the idea of using an entire 6×6 paper pad for card making. Trying out a monthly kit, could definitely make things easier. You could start by using just one of the mini collections since it only has 6 sheets of paper. And it’s perfect since the stamps and embellishments have already been coordinated for you. Leaving you with more time to simply create.

I made a total of 10 cards using the June kit. I still have plenty of leftovers to make many more cards. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it on YouTube.

Here are close up pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. For sketches that don’t already include measurements, I figure them out on my own, for what works for me. All of my cards are A2 size. Go HERE to see my video explaining how I determine card sketch measurements. All cards are made using the Scrapping for Less June Flavor of the Month card kit.

  • All of your cards are so original even though you have followed the sketches. I love this card kit and am really looking forward to my kit!

  • There are some really neat and fun background papers in this kit, Kristie! How fun for you to be able to play with them. Your cards are wonderful. Enjoyed seeing the new to me sketches you chose, too. Great job on this kit!

  • I was so happy to see you were designing for Scrapping for Less again! I was thinking about them just before your video showed up. I love you cards–the first one (love that background) and your watercolored octopus were my favorites but they were all really great. Someday soon I will have enough money to buy all the great kits you showcase. 🙂

  • Love this, Kristie! I really enjoy when you use stamps on your cards, and these kits look like a lot of fun. I do have a question for you… I've been watching a lot of your older videos and you use a lot of 12 x 12 card stock as mats. Where do you get it? I am just wondering what weight you have found best when doing a lot of layering. Thanks!

  • I am so excited and can't wait until my package comes. I saw your video and just had to have this kit. I was super surprised that there was still a kit left to purchase. I LOVE to watch you make cards and you are a great inspiration to my new love for card making! Thank you for all you work and sharing with others.

  • Thank you, Jeanne! It was a fun kit with some adorable stamps. I like that SFL offers card sketches for inspiration. 🙂

  • Thanks Jennifer! It's fun to get the opportunity to guest design for so many wonderful companies. Monthly card kits are a really good value. But there are so many available, it'd be hard to choose only one. 🙂

  • Thank you, Tricia! I appreciate your kindness.
I do use quite a bit of solid colored cardstock since I love adding layers to my cards. I generally purchase individual sheets from Joanns when it goes on sale. I'm not sure what the weight is though. I use Bazzill, Coredinations, Darice and other brands. I don't really have a preference. I just look for the colors that best match the paper collection. 🙂

  • Yay, I'm glad you were able to get a kit. The monthly kits do tend to sell out very quickly. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I did. Happy crafting! 🙂

  • Your numbers for the cuts on the card with the scene do not match at all what would actually need to be done to get it to turn out the way your card looks. Im guessing you actually cut the first section like 1/16 short from your 1 3/4 then took 1/16 off the next section before cutting the 1 3/4 etc. Sorry I trusted your numbers because it wasted my paper.

  • Hello. I post the original measurements I first figure out from the sketch. But I am always modifying the measurements when I make cards. Sometimes I want the paper pieces slightly bigger or slightly smaller. It just depends on the specific look I want. It's the same with sketch companies that already include measurements. Their designers don't necessarily follow the measurements exactly.
For the scene card, I did cut the pieces a bit wider than the 1 3/4" since I only wanted a sliver of cardstock showing between each piece. I think the card would still be fine with the narrower piece. You would just have a bit more cardstock showing.
Sometimes I will accidentally miscut my paper. I just try to find a way to modify the sketch so I can still make the card work. 🙂
