Hello! I can’t believe summer is almost here. My kids still have a few more weeks of school, but I know most of the country is already on summer vacation. Summertime usually means less crafty time for me while I try to keep my kiddos busy. But I’m hoping to sneak in a little time once in awhile.
With summer right around the corner, I figured it was the perfect time to use the Beach Babe collection by Pink & Main. It’s full of bright, cheerful colors and graphic designs. There are a lot of busy patterns, so I used solid cardstock to help balance out the cards.
The paper collection is definitely on the feminine side and I’ll be donating many of the cards to a local charity. I focused on general and birthday sentiments and made sure to keep the dimension down so the charity won’t have to pay any extra postage.
I used my 6×6 Paper Pad Tutorial and one paper pad to make 36 cards.
Because it takes many hours to use up a 6×6 paper pad, this video has been sped up 7 times. The real time recording was just over 4 1/2 hours, not including any of my planning, prep, or die cutting time. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it on YouTube.
In addition to using the 6×6 paper pad, I also used 16 sheets of 8 1/2″ x 11″ and 10 sheets of 12″ x 12″ solid colored cardstock.

Here are close up pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. All of my cards are A2 size. Go HERE to see my video explaining how I determine card sketch measurements. All cards are made using Pink & Main’s Beach Babe 6×6 paper pad.

Oh wow, Kristie, you did an amazing job with the paper pad. I adore the colors and the sketches you chose highlight the patterns wonderfully. So bright and fun. Some of the sentiments look "new" and help add to the fun of these cards. Excellent work, my friend! 🙂
What a cheerful paper pad – and you chose the best solid card stock! I LOVE that pink especially. I also adore your little blue lightening bug, and I really like the extra sparkle that came with the glittery silver bit you used on the blue cards in the beginning. You always have the best sentiments. Thanks for another inspiring video!
Just found your 6×6 videos today and love them. Think I want to give this a try. Do you create your own sketches or do you find them somewhere?
very cute cards once again. Question (an if you answered this in another post, I apologize): I noticed in the last couple of videos that you are allowing for a white border on some of your cards now, but not all. Any particular reason for the change? I know you've said before that you don't like to have the white showing, so I was curious. I've been trying cards both ways and the perfectionist part of me has issues with both styles, so I'm curious what your take is on white vs no white. Thanks for another inspiring video for this aspiring card maker :).
Aren't these videos great? I will often rewatch them when I need a boost of inspiration. Kristie finds sketches from various places on the internet and figures out the measurements (if they don't have any.) There is a link above that shows how she does this. I have found lots of sketches on pinterest, too.
Thank you, Jeanne! I really enjoyed using this paper collection. I did include several new sentiment stamps. 🙂
Thank you! Isn't that pink so pretty? It was perfect for this paper collection. I have no idea who makes that sparkly silver paper. I had a small scrap of it in my stash and thought it would be perfect. Thanks for watching my video! 🙂
Thank you, Heather. Sometimes I purposely like to leave 1/8" white border on my cards. When I do this, I adjust the sketch measurements to allow for the border. I tend to leave the white border for some of the brighter colored papers where the white border will add a little extra contrast. But if I don't want a white border, I will trim the card base to remove any slivers of white showing. I hope that makes sense. I've stuck with the no white borders quite a bit and just recently started including the white border again. 🙂
Thank you! I do not create any of the sketches, but I do provide the measurements for A2 size cards. I have links to the sketches I use and also have several sketch sites listed on my blog on the right hand side. 🙂
You have inspired me to take a step forward in my card making. I was pretty predictable but I have followed your lead and received compliments on the ones I have bundled together as gifts.
FYI…Joann’s has all their 12×12 cardstock on sale this week
I'm so happy I could provide some inspiration for your own card making. How fun that you are giving your cards as gifts. 🙂
I did see the Joann's ad for this week. I have a few 6×6's I'll be taking with me to find coordinating cardstock.
