I bought the Lawn Fawn scalloped box die when it was first released and never used it. But after making a shadow box card, I decided I could figure out how to use the scalloped box die. It was actually pretty easy. And I love how the whole thing folds to fit into an A2 size envelope. (Although this particular card didn’t quite fit due to the kite sticking out.)

Scalloped box card pop up die – Lawn Fawn

Paper – Lawn Fawn – Daphne’s Closet collection

Stamps – Lawn Fawn

Grass die – Lawn Fawn

Ink – Lawn Fawn

Markers – Copic

Here’s what the card looks like when it’s closed.

Here’s a picture of all the pieces included in the Scalloped box card die set.

My 8-year old daughter wanted to try the die too. And I’ll admit, she caught on much quicker than I did. (Of course, she included lots of giraffes since she loves giraffes.)

Thanks for visiting my blog today!

  • How cute is that box!! I am curious how it folds up (does the kite fit inside?) Does the die include all the inlay pieces or did you add those layers yourself? I love the colors you chose. You did a great job and so did your daughter. Those giraffes are really cute! TFS!

  • Thank you, Jennifer. The kite doesn't quite fit in an A2 envelope. It's about 1/2" too tall. (I think I tested it before I added the kite. I'll revise my blog post.) The die set includes quite a bit. All the inlaid pieces, the dividers and lots of banners, little stars and hearts. I'll include a picture.
My daughter had so much making her box. She did learn that she needs to use score tape and not her tombow tape runner.

  • Oh I love your box! It's so sweet. Great use of the paper, too. I'll bet, if you added a bit of length to the kite string and shifted the kite to the side a bit, it wouldn't stick out. I came across a YouTuber (1-2-B Panda Greetings is the channel) who shows some really fabulous box cards where the elements appear to extend beyond the edges, but fits inside the card when closed. I think these cards are so fun and such a surprise for the recipient if they aren't familiar with that type of card. Your daughter's card is terrific, too. LOVE her giraffes! So much fun here!

  • oh sorry!! I didn't mean to make you have to edit your post–I just couldn't see how it folded down! I am not good with 3-dimensional views. lol. Thanks for posting the components – there are so many elements. That is an amazing card! Thank you!

  • This is so awesome, Kristie; and I see your daughter is following in your footsteps! Your pop-up box reminds me of a little Easter basket, with the grass popping up and the bunny! So pretty!

  • It's no problem at all. I didn't even think about posting a picture of the closed card. I'll post of picture of the card closed as well.

  • That's a great idea for the kite. I know there are a lot of amazing crafters that have made incredible card boxes with this die. I plan on practicing more with it.

  • Thank you, Sherry! Yes, my sweet girl has been crafting almost all her life. She's even been in some of Sandy Allnock's videos.
