I decided to challenge myself to use only one sketch for the entire 6×6 paper pad. The 6×6 collection is called Magic and Wonder and it’s by Echo Park. It has a great mix of tone on tone and pattern paper designs. The colors are bright and cheerful and work well for either male or females.

I donate most of my cards to a variety of different local places. For this set of cards, I wrote uplifting messages inside each of them and took them to a local retirement home. The cards will be given to the residents with the sole purpose of simply putting a smile on someone’s face. I believe even a small act of kindness can make a big difference.

I made a total of 34 cards using one 6×6 paper pad.

I recorded my entire process of disappearing the 6×6 paper pad. The video is sped up 7 times since the full recording time was just over 3 hours, not including any of my planning, prep, or die cut time. Watch the video below or click HERE to see it on YouTube.

In addition to using the 6×6 paper pad, I also used 31 sheets of  8 1/2″ x 11″ solid colored cardstock. Here are all the leftover scraps.

I wanted to use a sketch that had some different elements to it, so I chose sketch #184 from Operation Write Home. It looked like the perfect sketch that wouldn’t leave me with lots of leftover scraps.

Here are the close up pictures of the cards I made, including the sketch, with measurements. All cards are made using Echo Park’s Magic and Wonder 6×6 paper pad.

Sketch – Operation Write Home #184

Stamp – Honey Bee Stamps

Circle die cuts – Spellbinders

Ink – Reverse Confetti

Epoxy stickers – Recollections

At this point, I had already made 32 cards and only had a small pile of scraps leftover. I could have easily tossed the scraps into the recycle bin. But I decided to pull out my goto sketch for finishing off a paper pad, #154 from Operation Write Home. I may not have met my challenge of only using one sketch, but I was really close. I made 2 last cards using this sketch.

Embossing folder – Darice

Circle die cuts – Spellbinders

  • Love you creativity. Where do you find the double sided 6×6 pads? I'm unable to locate them. Are you ever deterred my some of the pages in the pad before buying them? Some of the pads I've looked thru pages color aren't bright and eyre catching.

  • What a great challenge! I think you succeeded–the other 2 cards were a bonus. 🙂 I love how you get things down to just a few small scraps.

  • Thank you! I buy most of my 6×6 paper pads online since my local craft stores don't carry the brands I prefer. (Echo Park, Doodlebug, Carta Bella.) The online store I use most is A Cherry on Top. They have a large variety of products. Since I usually stick to just a few paper companies, I don't have too many paper designs I don't like. But that's the advantage of using double sided papers. You can always use the other side.

  • Thank you, CJ! I've already given away all of the cards from this set. But perhaps I will share the inside of my Kindness cards sometime.
