Hello friends! I bought the Fireworks & Freedom paper collection by Bella Blvd to make Fourth of July cards this year. This collection isn’t available in a 6×6 paper pad, so I did purchase the 12 x 12 Collection kit along with some individual sheets, ephemera and washi tape.

I donate cards every month to the residents at a local retirement home. Usually I drop off between 30 and 45 cards each month. But for holidays, I bring 90 cards. That way, every resident will receive a card. I have a local crafty friend that enjoys donating cards as well. She made 45 of the cards for me. We both include a hand written message inside every card. The cards are gifts for the residents. Not blank card for the residents to send to others.

I went a bit over my 45 cards by making 48 using Bella Blvd.’s Fireworks & Freedom collection. Since I did use 12 x 12 paper, I still have plenty left to use later. I love using patriotic colors for cards all year round. And this collection is so lovely, I’m glad I bought a little extra.

Since I’ve been asked many times, I thought I’d share a peek at how I prep the cards I donate to the retirement home residents. My whole purpose is to simply brighten someone’s day. A little kindness can truly make a big difference. I stamp the back of my cards with a custom stamp. Then I add a stamped sentiment inside the card along with a handwritten message. I do write the same message inside all 45 cards. I only sign my first name. Next, I’ll stamp a sentiment on the envelope. That way, the activity coordinator at the retirement homes knows the cards are meant to be given on a specific holiday. Ex. 4th of July, Father’s Day, Christmas, etc. Last, I seal the envelope with some cute washi tape. I never use the glue on the envelopes since it can be harder for the residents to open.

Here are close up pictures of the cards I made, including sketches and measurements. Operation Write Home and the newer Mojo Monday sketches are the only ones that already provide measurements. For all the other sketches, I simply figure the measurements out on my own, for what works for me. All of my cards are A2 size. Go HERE to see my video explaining how I determine card sketch measurements. All cards are made using Bella Blvd. Fireworks & Freedom paper collection.
